No time like the holiday gift-giving season to raise money and awareness for charity.
Unison Benevolent Fund held an event at Jazz Bistro that really got everyone into the Christmas spirit. Performances by Alex Pangman and her Alley Cats put on a killer set…and the night also featured:
Florence K and Ron Sexsmith.
I even got to perform with Don Francks and Tony Quarrington. Robert and Great Bob Scott did an early set. Thousands was raised and one lucky dude won a trip to Costa Rica (courtesy of Sunwing.ca) for a twenty dollar raffle ticket. Check out UNISON BENEVOLENT FUND
Speaking of great causes to think about during Christmas…Alex Pangman has always encouraged people to log on at BE A DONOR to find out how you can potentially save a life.
This is my last reminder about the swing party at Dovercourt. 220 tix have sold so far and no doubt over 300 will attend. Best to save ten bucks and get your tickets now!
It’s become a tradition to hit the one-of-a-kind-show with Heather Luckhart. Once again we strolled through the Direct Energy Centre at The Ex for hours and I managed to do a little shopping, sample some sweet treats and adopt another puppet!
Barbara Lica was the sample queen: She was so excited to try just about anything she was offered. I tried to resist buying another puppet, but this dude named Dennis would have none of it. He beckoned so I shelled out. Now Allan (who is eleventeen) has a roommate. I keep them downstairs cuz I don’t like puppets staring at me while I sleep. I blame Anthony Hopkins and the film Magic. “
I have had a few loft parties in the last while and have also had quiet nights for dinner and a movie. Also, a little You Tube challenge is fun. Everyone gets to pick one short thing to show. It can last all night but after a while I’m usually ready for a great film. Melissa and I hit Barberian’s for their annual Christmas lunch.
All their regulars congregate and it is hands-down my favourite Christmas tradition that doesn’t happen in North Bay with my folks. We had a great meal, some amazing wine and some new friends!
And as far as lofts go, we’ve had some outstanding new visitors to my salon nights including Reg Schwagger and Kiki Masumi, Bruce Cassidy, Tom Walsh and Ross Wooldridge.
Hopefully my next Bee Blog will contain info and a link about my first video of performances live from the loft, including a killer performance by Don Francks.
I hope to see you at Palais Royale this Friday for a great dance party and concert!
