It’s been two weeks since my last Blog…simply too busy to keep up…between safaris, song writing and planning this coming week of birthday bashes…I’ve been one busy bee! Speaking of parties…I start my 50th Birthday Week festivities tonight at HUGH’S ROOM. Dinner at 7 show at 8:30…get tix now or at the door for twenty five bucks! All the rest of my parties are listed at http://www.jaymzbee.ca and http://www.bullhorn.ca If you are in Toronto I hope to see you this week.
A highlight of the last two weeks was going to The Jazz Bistro three times! I was there for the official launch, then a press party and then a concert by Joe Sealy, Paul Novotny, Daniel Barnes and Barbra Lica. This classy new joint is where the old Top O’ The Senator used to be except it’s now on the main floor with a hole in the ceiling so people can watch from above as well. Gorgeous!
Speaking of Gorgeous…my beautiful date Nathalie was really impressed with the band…Alex Pangman and her Alley Cats played a perfect set for us!
You’ll be able to tell which shots come from Janet Jardine….they are the great photos as opposed to my fuzzy iPhone paparazzi pics!
These black and white
photos are all courtesy
of Janet Jardine.
There were about eight musicians and just as many singers. Don Francks and I sang some duets. So much fun!!!
And as I mentioned…several jazz safaris…wow…so many great acts with a bunch of old friends (JAZZ.FM91 donors) and some new ones too. Seeing Laura Hubert at Grossmans was a highlight…but as always, too many great bands to mention them all!
THIS WEEK: I know I’ve probably bombarded people with info about my various parties. Here’s three you can hit: Thursday Night at The Painted Lady to see my band, BONZAI SUZUKI. Saturday Night at Palais Royale for my big swing party (on my actual B-day…just 100 tix left, 400 sold) and finally Sunday afternoon 1-4pm at McMichael Art Gallery…a tour and concert by Tony Quarrington’s all star band. Even a $5 shuttle bus from The Rex at noon to Kleinberg…it gets us back by 5. (For tickets and more info check out http://www.michmichael.com) As I mentioned earlier…all info is at http://www.bullhorn.ca as well!
